About IYQ 2025
The International Year of Quantum Science and Technology is a global initiative, celebrated throughout 2025, that aims to strengthen national capacities in the basic sciences and science education. This initiative will highlight the contribution of quantum science to our increased knowledge and understanding of the physical universe, as well as the critical role of quantum science and technology in developing sustainable solutions in energy, education, communications, and human health.
Anyone, anywhere can participate in IYQ by helping others to learn more about quantum on this centennial occasion or by simply taking the time to learn more about it themselves. Those wanting to help Canadian celebrations can do so in two ways :
- Create an event in 2025 or spotlight a resource that helps others to learn about quantum
- Become a sponsor of IYQ by donating to the IYQ Canada Fund that helps support events and activities
Mark your calendars for May 3, 2025!
IYQ Canada is hosting Quantum Canada: Open Doors 2025, a coast-to-coast celebration of quantum science and technology.
This nationwide event invites academic institutions, companies, non-profits, and individuals to open their doors to the public, showcasing Canada’s leadership in quantum through free and engaging programming. From lab tours and interactive exhibits to public lectures and virtual events, there’s something for everyone to explore.
